TSC Southeast recently participated in the Construction Career Day at Hialeah Gardens Elementary School in South Florida.
We provided a fire safety presentation for the children, where they learned how to properly use a fire extinguisher and how to act in the event of a fire emergency. We also distributed fire extinguisher squishes, safety glasses, and stickers for the children.
All of the children were very excited about learning the PASS method, which is how to use a fire extinguisher in case of a fire. Everyone was eager to volunteer and learn not only from the presentation, but learn with a hands-on demonstration of fire safety equipment.
The kids learned what PPE is required onsite, what safety professionals do, and how to use a fire extinguisher on a jobsite. Everyone present was able to learn and understand all the safety requirements a construction worker needs in order to keep the jobsite and the public safe.
It was a pleasure to be a part of this event and we encouraged the children to view construction as a viable career path in the future.
Hialeah Gardens Elementary School’s mission is to promote academic excellence in an environment where all children and adults feel welcome, respected, trusted, and an important part of the school. They aim to foster a school community which values diversity and nurtures self-esteem.
